Frequently Asked Questions
Who is behind Lincoln Swiss Tours?
Lincoln Swiss Tours was founded by Lincoln Santos, an expat who fell in love with Switzerland and now shares it through the eyes of someone who lives here, not just visits. Every tour is designed to go beyond the postcard view of the country, blending local knowledge with years of tourism experience across Europe.
Which cities and regions do you offer tours in?
We currently offer experiences in Zurich, Lucerne, Basel, Interlaken, the Jungfrau region, Lauterbrunnen, Gruyère, Lugano, and Zermatt, covering everything from city walks to lake cruises and mountain excursions.
What is the difference between a shared tour and a private tour?
Shared tours are priced per person and require a minimum number of guests to run. Private group tours are booked at a flat rate for your own party, up to a set maximum number of guests, with an additional per-person charge if you go over that maximum. Each tour page lists the specific minimums and rates.
What is included in the tour price?
Each tour includes the guided experience itself, and, where noted, transfers, entrance tickets, or tastings specified in that tour’s itinerary. Please check the “Practical Information” section on each tour page, as inclusions vary between experiences.
What is not included in the tour price?
Unless stated otherwise, meals, personal expenses, and transportation to the meeting point are not included. Some tours mention “lunch not included” directly in their itinerary — this simply means time is set aside for a meal, but it is paid separately.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, advance booking is recommended for all tours, and required for our Special Tours, which run on limited dates and depend on availability. The earlier you book, the more likely we can accommodate your preferred date.
What are “Special Tours” and how are they different?
Special Tours are part of our “Switzerland Through an Expat’s Eyes” collection — longer, more immersive day trips to destinations like Interlaken, Jungfraujoch, Gruyère, and Zermatt. They run on limited dates and should be booked as early as possible to confirm availability.
Are tours available year-round?
Most city walking tours run year-round. Some mountain and hiking experiences are seasonal due to weather and cable car or train schedules — for example, certain Mt. Pilatus and Stoos tours only operate during specific months. Each tour page lists its exact availability.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my tour?
Walking tours generally run rain or shine, so we recommend dressing for the forecast. For mountain and outdoor experiences where safety or visibility may be affected, please contact us in advance so we can advise on the best course of action for your specific date.
What should I wear or bring?
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for all tours, as several routes include cobblestones, hills, or uneven terrain. For mountain and hiking tours, warm layers and weather-appropriate clothing are essential, even in summer, due to altitude.
Are the tours suitable for children?
Many of our walking tours are family-friendly. Longer mountain and hiking experiences may be more demanding for young children, so if you’re traveling with kids, feel free to contact us and we’ll help you choose the best fit for your family.
Can you plan a fully custom itinerary for my trip?
Yes — our Tailor-Made Swiss Experience is designed exactly for that. After an initial consultation about your interests and travel style, we build a personalized itinerary from scratch, which can combine multiple regions and experiences beyond our standard tour list.
Do you offer airport or hotel transfers?
Yes, we offer private Pick-up and Drop-off services between Zurich or Basel airport and your hotel, which also include a personalized walking tour of the city along the way — turning a simple transfer into part of your Swiss experience.
I’m not sure which tour is right for me — can I get advice before booking?
Absolutely. Our Online Travel Consulting & Planning service is designed for exactly that — expert, locally-informed advice to help you decide on the best itinerary for your trip, even before you book anything else.
Can I book a private tour if my group is smaller than the listed minimum?
Yes — most of our walking tours offer a private group rate at a flat price, which lets smaller parties book without needing to reach the shared-tour minimum. Check the “Group Size” details on each tour page for exact pricing.
What languages are the tours conducted in?
Our tours are conducted in English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
